📣 Important update from the veterinary sector – and what it means for our clients
The CMA has recently published provisional findings from its market investigation into veterinary services for household pets in the UK. 🐾
Key highlights from the report:
- The CMA found that many veterinary practices may not be giving pet owners enough clear information about prices, treatment options, or who owns the practice.
- Prices for veterinary services (and medicines) have risen significantly — in some cases well ahead of inflation.
- Because of concerns about weak competition (especially in areas dominated by large veterinary groups) and an outdated regulatory framework, the CMA is proposing remedies that would legally require practices to publish pricing, provide itemised fees, and give clearer ownership information.
